The exhibition “Touch of Space-Time” at the Idalin Gallery

I invite you to the opening of my exhibition ‘Touch of Space-Time’ at the Idalin Cultural Centre in Radom, ul. Bluszczowa 4/8, on 19 April 2018 at 6 p.m.
The exhibition will feature 28 photographs taken with pinhole cameras. It is a kind of summary of my 9-year fascination with this technique. I invite you to attend.

At the exhibition, I will present a set of photographs taken with pinhole cameras. A pinhole camera is the simplest form of a camera, whose construction is reduced to a box with a hole through which light enters, recording the image on light-sensitive material.

I have been interested in pinhole photography since 2009. I treat this technique as a way to take a break from advanced digital technology and as a way to stimulate creativity and imagination. Without advanced measurement technology, the ability to frame accurately, preview the photograph or everything else that a digital camera does for you, you are forced to use your imagination and rely only on yourself. Thanks to the imperfections of the optical camera, the recorded image is slightly out of focus and has a dreamlike quality. The exposure time in pinhole photography is much longer, even up to several dozen minutes, than in digital photography, thanks to which changes in the environment can be recorded in a single photograph, and the recorded image sometimes has a not entirely planned character. Photographing with a pinhole camera encourages me to calm down, contemplate and reflect on space, light and time.
